At least have them (your kids) do something for your ex, like a card or stuff like that.
My "ex" birthday is comming at the end of the month. I wanted to teach my children to give something to the mother on her birthday. Of course, they have no money so I am the provider. I don't know if she will do the same for me....

You should help your kids buy or make presents for their mother. It doesn't matter if she returns the favor or not. Do it for your kids!
ppfffttt i don't know about that one. my kids didn't even call me for my b-day when they were with their dad, actually out of the past 3 years they have been with him on my day and never called, and if they WANT to get him something i would let them but they have never wanted to so....

If the children are on good terms with both parents, I think a considerate one would encourage their kids to do something for them on their special day.Originally posted by Mortitia:

Andy, remember whom you're talking to.. She's got a bad temper, a pair of horns, a spiked tail, and tends to not care about men all that much.. Especially when it is her ex husband. I've met him.. Believe me, he's a prick in the biggest sense.

Never the less, I stand by what I say. If the children are on good terms...despite whether the ex-spouses are...it should be encouraged. Kids shouldn't be pawns in a ugly divorce.
EDIT: Please bear in mind that my advice is not meant for anybody in an abusive situation from either parent.

Let me put it a better way. His daughter is getting to the point she wants nothing to do with him from what I remember last. That doesn't make you look good in anyone's eyes. Especially mine. I might not have children. But I'll be damned if I let someone whom should have something to do with their children and should want to be in their life roll off my shoulder. I may never have any kids period. But they do mean the world to me. Someone's gotta take care of my crippled ass when I'm 80 some years old, no matter whose kid it is (Like my sisters children bwahaha)
Well, what I wanted is to teach them that they should give away something to the family members and even to each other. Even in my situation, I don't really hate my ex, so I am doing this as a family value for my childs.
As I said before AD, only when the children are on good terms with both parents.
